Library and Knowledge Services
The NHSScotland workforce is required to locate, access and
understand large amounts of information including policies, as well
as information to support research and development. The network of
libraries and knowledge services provide a home and archive for
this information as well as developing new ways to navigate and
find the right information at the right time. Knowledge Services
are increasingly developed online, such as those provided by the NHSScotland Knowledge Network and may
include information aimed at the public as well as NHSScotland
staff. Additionally, services are developing in partnership with
social services, voluntary sector and others.
There are many specialist roles in Library and Knowledge
Services including
- Library technicians or library assistants
- Specialist librarians and knowledge managers
- Information specialists and workers in public sectors and
voluntary or charitable organisations
